The REF Staff Circumstances Committee was convened from the Lent Term of the Academic Year 2019-20.  The Committee, constituted to hear declarations of staff circumstances consists of the PVC Institutional and International Relations, the Director of the Human Resources Division and the Head of the University Research Office.  A senior representative of the University's Equality and Diversity Office will be in attendance to ensure that all matters are considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010 and the conditions set out in the University's Code of Practice.

The decisions of the Staff Circumstances Committee will be given in writing individually to all members who submit a voluntary declaration of staff circumstances.  All such declarations will be treated in strict confidence by the Staff Circumstances Committee.

UoA Committees will be notified as appropriate where the removal of the requirement of the minimum of one output or reductions in number of outputs apply.  No other information about the staff circumstances will be shared with the Committees.

The Open Access team will be notified as appropriate where Open Access Policy Exception 255a for extenuating personal circumstances should be applied to any affected research outputs.  No other information about the staff circumstances will be shared with the Open Access team.

The Central REF Team will periodically write to staff across the collegiate University inviting them to self-declare circumstances, however staff members are welcomed to submit a declaration of staff circumstances at any time, by submitting a completed form to ref2021staffcircumstances@admin.cam.ac.uk
